The One Where You Pray For Me; Cross Your Fingers; Generally, Wish Me Luck

I'm singing a solo in church on Sunday.

I'm not typically a soloist.

I'm wondering now why I volunteered.

I heard a song on the radio that I liked that fit my range.

They (the band) jumped right on that opportunity.

I haven't sung a solo in church since I was Care Bear's age.

When I sung that solo, I kept looking back at the piano thinking someone was going to accompany me, but to my surprise, no-one was.

I sang acapella.

Sunday, I have my band backing me (thankfully).

My husband will be playing drums directly behind me.

I'm nervous.

I think I might be sick that day.

J.M. (my band-mate, fellow singer, friend, and general sweetheart) e-mailed me the other day and told me "You Rock!"

I hope she's right.

I wish my blogging friends and family were able to be in the audience cheering me on.

Wish me luck.

I'm up in a little over 36 hours.

praying for peace for you as you prepare and deliver your solo.

I used to do solos in church. I'd pass out if I had to do it now...

Thanks for the congrats!

Blessings,
Karla

I've been a song leader/director for over 25 years. I'm assistant songleader at my church now and I seem to be leading more than the primary songleader lately.

I don't believe in luck, but I do believe in answered prayer. How about I pray that God would calm your nerves and your fears and have His way as you sing, and that He would bless as you minister to His people in song? Will that work?

I promise you nobody ever died of embarassment, or I would be long dead and buried, LOL! ;D

Just remember it's God you want to please and not man. Focus on being pleasing to Him.

Have a great weekend, Kristen!

Goooooood luck. I so wish I could sing. Seriously, if there were one gift I wish I had it would be singing. I'm sure you'll do great!

I'm with Diane on this one! God will use you tomorrow. Bury yourself in prayer that any flaws will be unnoticed because of your spirit as you sing. I'll never forget you singing those wonderful Evie songs. And you were accompanied by Suzanne most of the time. I don't remember a cappella! I just remember being very proud and a bit nervous.

Made me think of this song:

I love You Lord

And I lift my voice

To worship You

Oh, my soul

Rejoice

Take joy, my King

In what You hear

May it be a sweet, sweet sound

In Your ear...

I'm praying for the person who needs to be in church tomorrow so that God can speak directly to his or her heart through the message of your song. Bless you for being available to be an instrument of worship.

Well as usual, Diane's comment cracked me up. I'd be dead, too.

Just remember that most of the people who will hear your solo would never have the courage to do it. I surely wouldn't. So I admire you and I think you're going to do just fine. Think how good you're going to feel about yourself after you do it!

I wish we could all be there, too.

I seem to be forever behind on my reading. By now I am sure you did a great job with the song. Our music minister always says God really isn't impressed with how well we sing; it's the attitude of heart. How could you go wrong? You have a sweet, tender spirit that will shine through your song - and that will bless eveyone who hears it.
